Nuneaton & Bedworth Leisure Trust is committed to a fully inclusive development programme and aims to raise awareness and identify appropriate opportunities for disabled people in Nuneaton and Bedworth.
It is the responsibility of the Club Development Officer to:-
- Assist in the development of disability sections for local sports clubs.
- Work with sports clubs to ensure that they are offering sport in a safe and inclusive environment.
- Assist to provide training and courses for staff, coaches and volunteers in disability awareness and equity.
- Assist in providing sporting and social opportunities for disabled people.
- Ensure that NBLT are operating to Disability Discrimination Act guidelines.
Inclusive Sports Clubs within Nuneaton and Bedworth
Nuneaton and Bedworth is fortunate to have committed volunteers and supporters helping run the following sports clubs in the area (Links will open in a new window):-
- Bedworth Disabled Swimming Club - The club runs on Friday evening’s 6.00pm – 7.00pm at Bedworth Leisure Centre, Coventry Road, Bedworth. For further information or to discuss your needs please contact Sheila on 07984 590 259.
- Tiger Feet Dance Class - designed for adults with learning disabilities. Thursdays 1.30 - 2.30pm £3.00 per dancer (carers free) Our Lady of the Angels Church Hall, Coton Road, Nuneaton. Contact Emma on 07533 916 231.
- U2 Track & Field ClubThe Club trains at the Pingles Athletic Track, Avenue Road Nuneaton on Thursdays 4.15 - 5.15 in school term time only. Information and advice in Athletics for athletes with special needs is available. Please contact Sheila Carey on 024 7636 4200.
- Special Olympics North Warwickshire - Special Olympics North Warwickshire is a friendly and welcoming organisation that offers a wide variety of sports for people with a learning disability. We take part in local events (Greater Midlands) as well as national and International Sports meetings, taking part alongside other Special Olympics teams. Everyone with a learning disability is welcome from the age of 8 years upwards.
The club trains at the Pingles Leisure Centre (Swimming) on a Tuesday evening 8pm-9pm and Athletics training is at Park House, Coton Road, Nuneaton 7pm-8pm.

- Warwickshire Warriors Disability Football Club - The Warwickshire Warriors offer disabled people (young and old) the opportunity to take part in football for fun and competitively. - Stay and Play sessions held at Abbey Childrens Centre every 4 Wednesday of the month. 9.15 until 10.45. Support from IDS and Speech and Language therepists. Come along and meet other parents of 0 - 5 years olds with special needs.
- Companions Community Club is an activity based social club where Disabled and non-disabled people can meet, socialise and take part in a wide range of activities. It is held on Thursdays from 2.00 until 4.00 at St. Nicolas Community Centre, Nuneaton.
