Safe, Effective & Child-Friendly Club Accreditation

Do you believe that your club should develop its standards, offer safe, effective and child-friendly opportunities to play & train, and be publicly recognised for its work?

If so, then Clubmark, the new national club development and accreditation scheme from Sport England, is what YOUR club needs.

Club Development

Clubmark is designed to help sports clubs develop through proper planning and by making sure that proper procedures are in place to cover all eventualities.

Quality Kitemark

The criteria to gain a Clubmark Award is incorporated into all of the different sports' own accreditation schemes. When clubs achieve their own sports' Award, they will also receive Clubmark which allows parents to easily recognise quality clubs, whatever the sport, because of the one cross-sport quality kitemark (much like in other professions!)

How Does a Club Get Involved?

Local Junior Sports Clubs, are being invited by their National Sports Governing Bodies (NGB's) to work through their own sports' Club Accreditation Scheme - a set of criteria which prove their attributes, and also to help them develop both their infrastructure and their volunteers. When they attain a certain level, they are eligible for the cross-sport Clubmark Award.

What Categories are Clubs Assessed On?

  • Duty of care and safety
  • Quality of coaching and competition
  • Fairness of opportunity (equity)- club management

What Support is Available for Clubs to Achieve Clubmark?

Working closely with the Sports Development Officer and sport specific development officers of the NGB, clubs receive guidance, support and resource packs to help them improve and satisfy the criteria.

Clubs are promoted in 'Club Central' leaflets and to local schools, coaching sessions and in the media.

Not only can clubs use Clubmark to develop, but parents, players, local authorities and schools can also assess how good a club is by looking for the accreditation logo and using it as a quality mark.

Now contact your sports NGB Representative to find out how your club can develop.
