What is it?
NBLT is committed to providing local residents with the opportunity to take part in sport at all levels. The Talented Athlete Programme (TAP) has been introduced to provide effective support to our local talented sports men and women, boys and girls.
TAP 2010 will see Nuneaton and Bedworth Leisure Trust (NBLT) TAP programme work alongside CSW Sport County Athlete (CAP) bursary to offer a central application process. Athletes living in Nuneaton and Bedworth who wish to apply for TAP now need only apply via the CAP bursary application process. For applications to either TAP or CAP programmes athletes are now required to submit only one application to CSW Sport for consideration by all funding partners .
The Benefits
Up to £2,000 financial support per year for up to three years (subject to a successful re-application), Assistance with promotion of an athletes achievements through the CSW Sport Website, the NBLT website and the local media Possible access to additional support services such as facility access An invitation to the CSW Sport Elite Performance Day.
Who can apply?
TAP is open to any person residing in Nuneaton and Bedworth Borough that is a member of a sports club and is achieving a minimum of County Standard and looking to progress to Great Britain representation.
How to apply
The application process is now open. Please ensure you read all the criteria and information before submitting your application form which must be sent to CSW Sport.
Applying for the first time
- There will be ONE opportunity for athletes to apply for the bursary per year.
- The completed form should be returned to the address shown on the application form.
- A sporting reference from your coach/national governing body (must be submitted on appropriate headed paper) is required and should be sent with your application.
- An eligibility panel will meet to short-list applications and award successful applicants. Individual interviews will be held following which all applicants will be informed of the outcome.
- Notification of the panels’ decision and an agreement form/contract will be sent in writing. The panels decision is final
- Funding Assistance will start from April with payments being made in 3 instalments.
- In the event of a change in circumstance that may result in the applicant becoming ineligible, NBLT & CSW Sport will have the right to withdraw all financial assistance and all agreements will be null and void.
- NBLT and partners requires notification of any current contracts with clubs or sponsors. This is to ensure that involvement in the programme does not jeopardise other agreements.
- If an applicant is found to have given false information leading them to be a successful applicant NBLT reserve the right to withdraw all financial assistance and request all monies be refunded.
- NBLT and partners reserves the right to withdraw financial assistance at any time.
Re-applications
- All applications from successful applicants applying for their second and third years support will submit their application to the set deadlines.

What does NBLT get in return?
- We ask that you provide help in promoting the sporting profile of NBLT including appearing in photographs, information for articles and press releases, and other pertinent promotional activities as agreed.
- We ask that you allow NBLT to use information of your success as an applicant to TAP after you have finished the programme.
- We ask that you assist NBLT in the promotion of the Leisure facilities as a location for sporting excellence and a provider of sports services for sports people.
- We ask that you attend an annual review of Bursery programme.
